Children at Beijing, Chinaâs Ganeinu International School have packed more than 180 relief kits to be sent to survivors of last weekâs devastating 7.9 magnitude earthquake more than 900 miles away in Sichuan Province.
According to Dini Freundlich, co-director of Chabad-Lubavitch of Beijing and principal of the school, some students have taken to selling origami hearts to raise money for the relief effort. In a letter to supporters, Freundlich noted the childrenâs âgenuine concern for people they had never met.â
âAs they packed, the children discussed how it must feel not to have soap or a toothbrush,â she wrote.
Meanwhile, Rabbi Mordechai Avtzon, co-director of Chabad-Lubavitch of Hong Kong continued to raise money to help Jewish residents of Chengdu distribute aid to the refugees. âŚ
